August saw Kathak Dharohar in Bankura, a district in West Bengal predominantly inhabited by tribal communities, to celebrate Indigenous Day. The aim was to honor and appreciate the rich cultural tapestry weaved by these communities and to learn from their traditions.
The entire day was a vivid display of dance, music, and storytelling. The tribal people, with their innate sense of rhythm and dance, shared their art forms with the Kathak Dharohar team. The highlight was the collective dance session where everyone, irrespective of their backgrounds, danced wholeheartedly. The heartfelt expression by the tribal community, "babu aapni bagwan er roop" (Sir, you are like God's messenger), was a testament to the bridges built and the appreciation shared.
